Casinacho Games
Casinacho Games is one of those apps that bundles a handful of small arcade-style challenges into a single colourful package, and honestly it's better than that description makes it sound. Each mode is a tiny self-contained game: reaction tests, light tapping puzzles, a couple of timing challenges. You pick one, play for two or three minutes, and move on. It's the sort of thing we kept opening while waiting for a kettle to boil.
Controls are the strong point. Everything is single-thumb friendly, the touch targets are generous, and there's no fiddly virtual stick to fight with. The settings menu is more thorough than we expected too, with a proper option to cap the frame rate, which kept the phone noticeably cooler during our week with it. Battery drain was modest for a game this animated.
It won't swallow your evenings and it doesn't try to. Casinacho Games is a snack, not a meal, and once you accept that, it's a pleasant one. We'd have liked a bit more variety across the modes and a cleaner way to track your best scores, but as a casual time-filler it does its job without nagging you to come back.
What we liked
- Comfortable one-handed controls
- Surprisingly deep settings including a frame cap
- Light on battery for short sessions
