Emberfall Chronicles

Emberfall Chronicles is the rare mobile RPG that respects your time without gutting the systems. Battles are turn-based, so you can pause mid-fight and nobody punishes you for putting the phone down. The writing carries it, though. The party banters on the road, side characters remember things you did, and the main quest actually goes somewhere.

Mechanically it's a solid job class system with a skill tree that encourages experimenting rather than just dumping points into attack. We appreciated that the game lets you shrink or move the combat UI, which on a smaller screen makes a real difference.

Our one gripe is the energy-style gate on grinding, though you can mostly ignore it if you follow the story at a normal pace. Performance was smooth and the battery held up fine outside of the longer cutscenes.
